The Multitronic variable automatic gearbox developed by Audi is commonly known as a CVT gearbox. A CVT transmission uses a chain drive which has a reduction ratio between the shortest and the longest ratio and can be controlled steplessly by means of a so-called “variator”. This means there is only one constant gear with a belt running over a cone shaped input & output gear set, which allows the engine to run at optimal RPMs, for best emissions, mileage performance and a smooth, shiftless ride.
Vehicle List (6 Speed Electronic Shift)
- AUDI A4 2001-2007 (01J) Multitronic CVT Transmission (gearbox code DZN)
- AUDI A6 2003-2007 (01J) Multitronic CVT Transmission (gearbox code DZN)
Servicing the Transmission…
As with all transmissions preventative maintenance is key to the reliability of your vehicle. Continuously Variable Transmissions (CVT) are always under constant load and pressure regulation and metal to metal friction. CVT’s have a high risk of oil foaming which raises the risk of poor lubrication and increased wear to internal lubricated parts. Changing the fluid will give better stability, lower the risk of foaming, increase metal to metal friction protection and prevent overall transmission wear. Some oils also offer increased friction modifiers to help reduce shudder on take off which is a common complaint with all CVT’s.
Recommended Oil Change Service Schedule…
- Service your Audi CVT Transmission every 3 years or 60,000kms which ever occurs first.
Carrying out a Fluid Change…
The 01J Transmission does not have a sump and uses one drain plug and also one filler/check plug which are both on the bottom of the transmission (See image to right). The Filler/Check plug has a raised tube which allows for the correct oil level to be achieved duing filling the transmission.
Tool List (See links below)
- Male M16 Security Drain Plug Socket
- Male 10mm Hex Filler/Check Plug Socket
- Hose Barb Filler Adapter
- Oil Drum with Pump
First drain the fluid and also remove the filler plug and allow to drain for about half an hour. Clean and replace Drain plug (tighten NM). Then fit the Barb filling tool buy xanax cheap into the filler hole (hand tight) and connect up your pump system. You can now fill the transmission with 4.5 litres of Audi recommended CVT fluid (leave pump connected) and then start the vehicle with shift lever in park position.
Wheels off Ground
If the vehicle has the wheels off the ground you can select drive and reverse and allow the wheels to spin up to 8kph for a few seconds. Then remove the filler fitting and check for oil running out the filler/check hole. If the oil is running out wait until its starts to slow almost to a trickel and fit the filler plug (tighten NM) if no oil runs out add 0.5 litre and check again. (TIP: Try and keep transmission oil temp under 65°C to get a correct oil level reading.)
Wheels on Ground
If the vehicle is on ramps etc you will need to disconnect the filler adapter and fit filler plug (hand tight & with out loosing to much oil) then you can select drive and reverse and allow the gears to engage. You may need to allow the vehicle to move a few centermeters both ways to do this, then remove the filler plug and check for oil running out. If the oil is running out wait until its starts to slow almost to a trickle and fit the filler plug (tighten NM) if no oil runs out add 0.5 litre and check again. (TIP: Try and keep transmission oil temp under 65°C to get a correct oil level reading.)
The fluid is now change test driver the vehicle and check for any clutch related problems. Some vehicles will need the internal clutch packs recalibrated to help fix delayed or harsh take offs, take off shuddering and delayed engagements. Neurontin is one of the strongest painkillers that you can find at https://buyingneurontinpill.com, as a doctor I can confirm that. It is very effective in dealing with neurological pain, no matter how intense it is, but be sure to watch for the side effects during the first days and always address your doctor if you can’t handle them. If a take off shudder persist after oil changes and recalibration you can try adding a friction modifier to the oil contact us for more details. email@example.com
